"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem. "
Mark 3:1 Three of the county’s richest men sat together outside, watching the sky. They had everything. Money. Power. But, they knew that in their hearts something was missing. They were waiting for something, someone. The Saviour. As they were thinking this, a star, brighter than all the others, suddenly appeared in the sky. The first man looked around to see if the others were seeing the same thing. He was right. The rich men looked at each other and at the same time all ran off to get their things. They had studied the night sky and knew what that new star meant. The one they were waiting for was finally here! The journey was tough, they knew, and would take a very long time, they knew, but it would be worth it. Beginning their quest, they set off on camels and followed the bright light of the star ahead of them. After weeks of traveling, the men arrived in Bethlehem. They gathered up their treasures of gold, frankincense and myrrh and bowed to worship and offer their gifts to the king of the Jews. And there, in the soft light of the stars from above, they witnessed the baby. The one who would save the world. |
